Luchtverkeersleiding Nederland continuously aims to improve air traffic control safety and efficiency. Currently, we’re developing an online briefing environment where our air traffic controllers can check operational procedures, pre-shift briefing and training information in one single online portal.
During this process, we’ve encountered various challenges:
- ensuring that our 8 technical writers can update and re-use our highly specialised information products in an ever changing environment, and can formally trace back those changes for compliance purposes.
- Developing a portal that supports our controllers in finding and processing the information they need in the best possible way.
Maaike Groenewege will address LVNL as an organization, our set of information products, our procedure design process and the role of technical communication in a highly safety-oriented environment.
Kees de Grauw will elaborate on the XML-based component content management system that has been introduced at LVNL in 2009, and now forms the backbone of the LVNL content production for both operations manuals and training information.
Reinoud Hulzebosch discusses User experience design and Cognitive ergonomics as approaches for designing a portal and its contents to support our air traffic controllers in finding and using the information they need, when they need it.
