The tekom Profiling Tool: How to define job roles and competence profiles for technical writers
The development of an information product is a multifaceted process that requires an ever increasing volume and variety of skills and competencies with distinctive job roles, e.g. department manager, project manager, senior and junior technical writer, copy editor for proofreading. The tekom competence framework developed in 2015 wants to provide a systematic approach to define the phases in the information product development together with the required competencies. It includes an open profiling tool.
Presentation: June 8 – The competence framework and profiling tool
Using different roles (project manager, technical writer,…) and use cases it will be demonstrated how the profiling tool can be used to determine which competencies are already available in your department or are still needed. If you are a technical writer you will see which skills are needed to bring you into a better job.
